All being well, you will arrive in the US comfortably ahead of the birth and will have time to find your bearings, work out the route to the hospital, locate the nearest pharmacy and spend some time with your surrogate before the birth.

In our case, Jennifer was induced two days before her due date, and Emily arrived into the world about 36 hours later, in the early hours of the morning on her due date. We spent much of those 36 hours waiting in the hospital waiting room, only occasionally venturing out for food or a couple of hours sleep in a nearby hotel.

When the birth was imminent Jennifer's husband called us in to the labour ward. We were able to witness the birth, which occurred very shortly after we entered the room.

Emily was born at 00.48hrs on May 19, 2017, weighing 9lb 15oz. She was, and is, the most beautiful baby ever born.
